Let your agent work while you're offline
Automations let you schedule your AI agent to run tasks automatically, daily, weekly, monthly, or just once. Instead of manually asking the AI to research competitors, summarize news, or pull data, you set it up once and it runs on its own.
What can Automations do?
There are two types:
Conversation: The AI researches, analyzes, or writes something, then sends you the result.
Example: "Check my competitors' blogs every morning and email me a summary."
Reminder: A simple notification at a set time.
Example: "Remind me every Friday at 4pm to submit my timesheet."
How to create an Automation
Option 1: Just tell the AI (easiest)
Describe what you want in chat, for example:
"Create a daily automation that checks my competitor's latest blog posts and emails me a summary every morning at 9am."
The AI sets up the schedule, picks the right tools, and configures delivery for you.
Option 2: Set it up manually
- Go to Automations in your dashboard.
- Click New.
- Fill in the following:
- Name: What is this automation for?
- Type: Conversation (AI does work) or Reminder (simple alert).
- Prompt: What should the AI do each time it runs?
- Schedule: One-time, daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Delivery: Email, in-app notification, or both.
- Click Create.
Managing your Automations
Each automation has one of three statuses:
- Active: Running on schedule.
- Paused: Temporarily stopped. Resume any time.
- Needs attention: Stopped after 3 failed runs. Check the setup and fix the issue to restart it.
You can also hit Run Now to test any automation immediately.
Tips for effective Automations
- Be specific in your prompt. "Summarize AI news from TechCrunch and The Verge" works better than "Do research."
- Match the schedule to the topic. Daily for fast-moving news, weekly for slower-moving subjects.
- Use email for longer reports. In-app notifications are better for quick alerts.
- Test with Run Now before leaving an automation on autopilot.
Limits
- 30 automations total per workspace.
- 5 automations active at the same time.
