Setup Instructions
Step 1: Access Tools Settings
- Open your TextCortex dashboard and switch to Auto mode
- Navigate to Tools
- Select Microsoft Teams from the menu
- Choose Link new Teams account
Step 2: Request Access (Enterprise Users)
If you're in an enterprise organization:
- Click Send Request for Admin Approval
- Your organization admin will receive a notification
- Wait for admin approval (you'll be notified via email)
- Proceed to Step 3 once approved
Step 3: Authorize Connection
- You'll be redirected to Microsoft's login page
- Sign in with your Microsoft account credentials
- Review and accept the permissions request
- You'll be redirected back to TextCortex
Step 4: Configure Tools Settings
- Open any AI agent conversation
- Click the Tools dropdown
- Toggle Microsoft Teams to ON
- Optionally disable other tools if you want responses based only on your Teams data
Step 5: Test Your Connection
Try asking your AI agent:
"What were the latest messages in the general channel?"
Configuration Tips
For Teams-Only Responses
To get answers based purely on your Microsoft Teams: ON
- ❌ Knowledge Base: OFF
- ❌ Web Search: OFF
- ❌ Microsoft Outlook: OFF (unless you want both)
For Best Results
Be specific about channels and timeframes:
- ✅ "Messages from the marketing channel this week"
- ✅ "Yesterday's meeting transcript from the all-hands"
- ✅ "Recent discussions in the product team channel"
- ❌ "Show me Teams messages" (too broad)
Query Tips
- Include channel names when possible
- Specify timeframes (today, this week, last month)
- Mention meeting types (standup, review, planning)
- Ask for specific information (action items, decisions, updates)
Privacy & Security
What you can access:
- Teams channels you're a member of
- Direct messages you're part of
- Meeting transcripts from meetings you attended
- Conversations in teams you belong to
What you cannot access:
- Private channels you're not invited to
- Direct messages between other people
- Teams you're not a member of
- Meeting content from meetings you didn't attend
Your AI agent respects your existing Teams permissions—it accesses only what you can see.
Troubleshooting
Connection failed?
- Ensure you're using the correct Microsoft account
- Check with your admin if approval is still pending
- Verify your Teams account is active
Not finding specific messages?
- Check if you're a member of the channel you're asking about
- Ensure the timeframe you specified includes the messages
- Try broader search terms or different phrasing
Missing meeting transcripts?
- Transcripts are only available for recorded meetings
- Verify you attended the meeting you're asking about
- Check if transcription was enabled for that meeting
