In this help center article, we'll show you how to generate an API key on TextCortex dashboard and authenticate your account on Zapier with your API key.
1) Generate an API key
To generate an API key for TextCortex, follow these steps after logging in:
1. Go to the API Key page: https://app.textcortex.com/user/dashboard/settings/api-key
4. Click on the Generate API Key button.
5. Copy the API Key to your clipboard.
You'll need this to authenticate your account on Zapier.
2) Authenticate your Zapier account
Once you have your API key, it's time to connect your TextCortex account to Zapier. Here's how to do that:
- Log in to your Zapier account or create a new one at https://zapier.com
- Create a new Zap or add a new integration to one of your existing Zaps.
- Find TextCortex AI among the integrations.
4. Select one of the events available.
5. After selecting the relevant event, you'll be asked to choose an account. Click on Choose.
6. Click on the Connect a new account button to start the authentication process. Then you'll see two input fields. In the API Key field, paste the API key you generated from your TextCortex account.
6.1 (Optional) To make it easier to identify your TextCortex account, especially if you have multiple accounts, you can give your connection a Display Name. This name will be visible only in your Zapier dashboard.
7. Click on the Yes, Continue to TextCortex AI button to complete the authentication process.
3) Connect TextCortex with different apps
That's it! Your TextCortex account is now connected to Zapier, and you can start creating automated workflows to streamline your content generation tasks.

API Error Codes
Cause: Invalid Request
- You are exceeding the maximum token limit for the relevant endpoint.
- You do not have enough input tokens to send a request.
- You have a typo in the headers you send.
Solution: To resolve this error, please follow these steps:
- You will see the details of your invalid request in the returned response. Make sure to check them and adjust your request accordingly.
- If you are going over the maximum token allowance, the response will provide both the relevant maximum limit and what you currently have in your request.
- If you do not have enough input tokens to send a request, the response will provide both the relevant minimum limit and what you currently have in your request.
Cause: Invalid Authentication
- 401 - API key is not valid
- 401 - API key does not exist
- 401 - API key is blacklisted
This error code indicates that your authentication credentials are invalid. This could happen for several reasons, such as:
- You are using an API key that has been deleted or deactivated.
- You are using a revoked API key.
- You are using a blacklisted API key.
- There is a typo or an extra space in your API key.
- An old, revoked API key might be cached locally.
Solution: To resolve this error, please follow these steps:
- Check that you are using the correct API key. You can find your API key in your account settings.
- If you are unsure whether your API key is valid, you can generate a new one. Make sure to connect your new account with your new API key in your Zapier authentication.
- Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, then try again.
Cause: Not enough credits
- 402 - Not enough credits
This error code indicates that your authentication credentials do not have sufficient credits to send any more requests.
Solution: You can see your API usage and your remaining credits in your API key settings. When you run out of credits, you can add more credits in the same dashboard.
Cause: The server had an error while processing your request
- 500 - The server had an error while processing your request
This error code indicates that there is an issue on our servers.
Solution: Retry your request after a brief wait and contact us if the issue persists at contact@textcortex.com. You may also check the status page.
